This Ctenathe has delicate fishbone like patterns to its leaves. It was named after Robert Burle Marx who was a famous Brazilian landscape artist known for his influence on tropical garden design.
Like similar prayer plants, they close their leaves together during the night in the same way a person would clasp their hands together in praying position. Once the sunrises, they gradually open up again. If you’re an early bird, you just might catch yours opening up before sunrise.
