Botanical Name: Asparagus Setaceus
Asparagus fern is an eye-catching, chic fern with delicate, textured layers to its leaves. They are fairly easy to look after and prefer a spot with indirect light and are even suited to partial shade - just make sure they aren't in direct sunlight. They also love a humid environment so make a perfect plant for the bathroom, or alternatively enjoy a misting every now and again.
The Inside Scoop
As a general rule of thumb, plants with thin leaves tend to not be very drought tolerant and the Asparagus Fern is no exception. Plants with thicker leaves or chunky stems usually have these attributes so that they can store water here in periods of drought. In contrast the Asparagus Fern has wafer thin leaves and will therefore only be able to look to the soil when they are thirsty. Be sure to top up with water once you’ve noticed the top part of the soil become dry!
